How XP is Calculated
XP (experience points) is the foundation of your level and a baseline component of your Genius Score. You earn XP only by completing puzzles for the first time.
The Formula
xp_awarded = 10 × difficulty_multiplier| Difficulty | Multiplier | XP Awarded |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | 1 | 10 |
| Medium | 2 | 20 |
| Hard | 3 | 30 |
| Expert | 4 | 40 |
Replays Award No XP
We track your first completion of each puzzle. Solving a puzzle you have already finished is recorded in your Recent Activity but credits 0 XP — so memorizing one easy puzzle and re-solving it cannot farm XP.
Worked Example
In one session you solve, all for the first time:
- 3 easy puzzles → 3 × 10 = 30 XP
- 2 medium puzzles → 2 × 20 = 40 XP
- 1 hard puzzle → 30 XP
- 1 expert puzzle → 40 XP
Total: 140 XP. That puts you well past Level 2 (50 XP) and onto the path to Level 3 (200 XP).
Why first-time only?
BeGenius rewards skill growth and exploration. Replays are still allowed for fun and practice, but they are not for stat farming. The same first-time-only rule applies to hints earned and stats updates.
